Let us brighten your smile!

The better we prevent or deal with these two problems, the more chance people have of keeping their teeth for life.Preventive dentistry will benefit anyone with some of their own teeth. People who don’t have any teeth can also benefit, because conditions such as mouth cancer and denture stomatitis can be spotted during regular visits to the dentist and then treated. It is excellent for children and young people, but it is never too late to start.

- brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with fluoride toothpaste – this will mean brushing in the way your dentist or hygienist will have shown you
- clean in between your teeth with ‘interdental’ brushes or floss – brushing alone only cleans up to about 60 percent of the surface of your teeth
- use a mouthwash – this can help to freshen your breath. Many mouthwashes contain antibacterial ingredients to help prevent gum disease, and fluoride to help prevent decay.

First dental visit: It should be as soon as the first tooth erupts in the oral cavity.

Fluorides : Fluoride varnish is a temporarily adhesive form of fluoride applied to the tooth surface by a dentist, dental hygienist or other health care professional as a type of topical fluoride therapy. Fluoride varnish is not permanent, but is designed to adhere to the tooth surface and keep fluoride in contact with the tooth for several hours. It is applied as a preventive measure to prevent decay.
Pit and fissure sealants:Sealants are a plastic resin that is flowed into and bonded to the natural grooves that occur on the chewing surfaces of the back primary and permanent teeth. Sealing the grooves of a back tooth is a procedure to prevent dental decay from occurring in the pits and fissures in the chewing surface of a back tooth.
Sealants do not protect the smooth surfaces of teeth including the surfaces between teeth. Flossing is the only way to clean between the teeth and to prevent tooth decay between teeth.
Sealants have been clinically shown to last up to 9 years and seal the grooves of teeth where around 60% of all tooth decay begins.
Your child’s sealants will be evaluated at each re-care visit to make sure that they are intact and in no need of repair.
